What is a Homebuyers Day event?
If you’ve been trying to navigate the housing market alone, you’ll know how confusing – and frankly exhausting – it can feel. We get it because we’ve been there too. And that’s exactly why Homebuyers Day exists, offering honest guidance, curated solutions, and support to help you find your space.
Taking place for the very first time in Exeter on Saturday 7th February 2026, Homebuyers Day is a brand-new event created by Share to Buy Live to give buyers a clearer, calmer and more supportive way to explore their homeownership options. But what actually happens at a Homebuyers Day? And how can it help you?
Let’s break it down.
A focused, friendly space built for real conversations
Homebuyers Day events are intentionally smaller in scale than our regional home shows. Think of it as an approachable drop-in space, designed for meaningful, face-to-face conversations with the people who know the South West affordable housing market best.
There’s no rushing. No pressure. And definitely no “sales pitch” atmosphere.
Instead, you’ll find a relaxed, welcoming setting where you can:
- Speak directly with local housing providers offering homes in the South West.
- Ask honest questions about schemes like Shared Ownership.
- Get clear explanations from mortgage advisors about affordability and eligibility.
- Explore real home-buying and rental options that may suit your budget, lifestyle and long-term plans.
- Attend educational seminars and understand the step-by-step process of buying a home.
- Learn from people like you, and hear how they successfully bought an affordable home.
It’s the kind of event where you can bring your questions, your concerns and even your scepticism and leave with clarity.
Why was Homebuyers Day created?
After more than a decade of running the London Home Show and a successful series of regional home shows in Bristol and Manchester, Share to Buy Live has seen first hand how transformative in-person guidance can be.
But large events aren’t for everyone. Some buyers prefer a quieter setting. Others simply want a more intimate space to speak with experts. So, we established Homebuyers Day to connect even more aspiring buyers in smaller cities with housing professionals in their local area – continuing our mission to make homeownership more accessible.
Who is it for?
Short answer: anyone who is trying to find a path into homeownership but feels blocked by today’s market.
Whether you’re:
A first time buyer – Trying to understand your options, your affordability and which schemes you might qualify for.
A second stepper – Looking for more space, a new location or a way to move forward when traditional buying routes feel out of reach.
A downsizer – Exploring homes that better suit your future plans, accessibility needs or financial goals.
A Homebuyers Day meets you exactly where you are – no judgement, no expectations.
What makes a Homebuyers Day so valuable?
We understand that online research can only take you so far sometimes. Mortgage calculators are an incredibly helpful starting point, but they can’t replace a conversation. And reading about schemes has its limits in providing the full picture of how they work for your circumstances.
At Homebuyers Day Exeter, you can:
- Understand the practicalities behind Shared Ownership and other affordable homeownership schemes.
- Get tailored guidance from industry professionals who can look at your situation in context.
- Learn about homes available right now and coming soon in the South West.
- Receive honest, human advice you won’t get from scrolling alone.
Since 2013, our live events have helped tens of thousands of people take their first (or next) step towards homeownership, and Homebuyers Day could do the same for you.
Hear from previous Share to Buy Live event attendees who have been where you are:
“It breaks down the process a lot easier than a bunch of Google tabs would do,” shared one visitor.
Another guest said: “It was just so great to have a one-on-one conversation with someone. It really helped me clear up, okay, this is what my option is, this is how much I can afford potentially in London.”
Feeling more confident about their options, another expressed: “Yeah, it does seem a bit more achievable, speaking to everyone and other people that have done it.”
That’s exactly what this event is designed to deliver.
A supportive next step – whether you’re feeling lost, just starting or starting again
Homebuyers Day isn’t about making big decisions on the spot – unless that’s what feels right for you. It’s about understanding your options so you can make informed choices in your own time.
If buying a home feels impossible right now, this is your chance to see the bigger picture and discover that you may have more pathways than you thought.
If you’re ready to pick your search back up after a pause, it’s a helpful reset. If you’re unsure where to turn next, it’s a safe place to begin.
Your homeownership journey doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. You just need the right information, the right support and the right people in the room.
